The team at Highland And Islands Blood Bikes are a vital lifeline to the Highlands of Scotland, assisting NHS Highland to transport urgent blood samples, medications and baby milk across an area the size of Belgium, and beyond. Entirely run by unpaid volunteers, HAIBB operates without Government or NHS funding, relying solely on donations. The charity’s main base is in Inverness, along with three smaller bases in Wick, Fort William and Oban.
When the Dicksons of Inverness directors were first introduced to the team at HIABB, we instantly asked “what can we do to help”? The donation of a Nissan Townstar van from Dicksons allows the team to continue to carry out these essential services during adverse weather conditions and to traverse our sometimes challenging and varied landscape safely.
In their newest van, donated by Dicksons, we’re taking you behind the scenes at Raigmore Hospital and on the road as we spend a day with the Blood Bikes. Check it out in the video below.
