Nissan Qashqai With e-POWER Wins Big
The Nissan Qashqai with e-POWER has been acknowledged as best-in-class by The Sun, The Sunday Times, and driving.co.uk at the News UK Motor Awards 2024, praised for its unique and innovative electrified powertrain.
This accolade is a well-earned feather in the cap for Nissan and the British-built Qashqai, marking a year in which the popular crossover has maintained a high profileāthanks to a comprehensive update announcement and its starring role in an award-winning marketing campaign.
Since its debut in September 2022, Nissan has sold over 140,000 units of the Qashqai with e-POWER, with customers enjoying the āelectric driveā sensation that the technology provides.
Rob Gill, Motors Editor at The Sun, commented:Ā āWe canāt get enough of them. Qashqai is the car that started it all and now the clever e-POWER system moves the game on even further.ā
āIt has all the advantages of an electric car without the not-so-good bits like recharging with a plug. The petrol engine charges the battery and an electric motor drives the wheels. We averaged 46mpg over 700 miles, which is mighty impressive for a family SUV, plus itās designed, engineered and made in Britain.ā
The Qashqai with e-POWER is the Perfect Solution
The Nissan Qashqai with e-POWER is the ideal solution for customers seeking advanced, efficient technology but who arenāt yet ready to transition to a fully electric car.
The carās turbocharged three-cylinder engine has one primary role: generating electricity. This electricity is then directed via an inverter to either the 140kW electric motor, the 1.8kWh battery, or both, depending on the driving conditions.
Operating quietly in the background, the engine supplies power in line with the vehicleās speed, seamlessly matching sound with the carās movement to avoid any sense of disconnect.
Diana Torres, Managing Director, Nissan GB, said: āāWe couldnāt be more thrilled that the new Qashqai, powered by Nissanās unique e-POWER technology, beat its hybrid rivals in a highly competitive class at the News UK Motor Awards 2024.
āIt means a huge amount to be selected for recognition by some of the UKās most popular publications and their motoring experts.
āāNissan is proud to have created the crossover segment when it launched Qashqai in 2007. The cars on sale today are a far cry from those early models, of course, and the introduction of e-POWER technology in 2022 was a huge moment for Qashqai. Itās a car thatās incredibly important to all of us at Nissan and continues to be much-loved by our customers.āā
